Climate change is now a fact and 40% of the global CO2 emissions are contributed to by the construction industry. Moving forward with this in mind:
Wouldn’t it be great to know that you can achieve net-zero carbon easily as well as net-zero construction with less effort?
Wouldn’t it be great to have a carbon label on the prefabricated construction products you manufacture?
Wouldn’t it be great to offer your clients the global warming potential (GWP) your products have in their next construction project?
Wouldn’t it be great to proudly promote you are helping the net-zero movement, making your clients choose you over your competition?
Good news!
At Green Point Engineering we can help you with that.
Why Us?
The Process
Scope
We begin this process by discussing the overall purpose of executing a study like this whether it is a whole building life cycle assessment (wbLCA), a life cycle assessment (LCA) or life-cycle cost analysis. We will also show you examples of results this endeavor will/can bring.
Issued for construction drawings and specifications
GPE’s requirements will vary depending on your needs, but primarily we will need a full set of drawings for the new construction/product on which we will conduct this study. We can develop these for you if necessary or we can utilize drawings done by others.
BOMs and Labor
From this documentation and thanks to our experience and our databases, we can now determine the majority of the materials required in this project as well as the waste generated. Some specialized construction/products may require special input from external consultants.
Impact calculations
Our methods allow us to obtain the carbon footprint and other impacts of different alternatives for the input products or construction materials which in turn will help you with decisions to produce a lower carbon final product or construction project. In this same manner, it will help your clients choose you over your competition. We incorporate this philosophy in our analysis.
Comprehensive report
A typical wbLCA report would take approximately three to six weeks, where larger projects could take up to one year due to their vast complexity. Thereafter, elaboration of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) as well as other reports and documents may take some days up to a few weeks.
Trust
We know the importance of your project and the requirements to keep secrecy. We are very familiar with Non Disclosure Agreements, so rest assured we will sign one if you require.
What types of buildings (or products) do we cover?
We understand the major differences in structures and products depending on the sectors they are designed for and the Importance Classification they fall into, and for that reason, we identify each within its correct bucket. Going from group classifications of OBC to each sector (Residential, Agricultural, Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, Infrastructure), we will evaluate each specifically and accordingly in the making of their wbLCA/LCA.
Deliverables
You will receive a detailed and comprehensive report, highlighting the strategies to follow during manufacturing/construction of your project and help reduce its carbon footprint with the goal to achieve net-zero.
This report is going to contain information that will help achieve LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Zero Carbon Building, as well as other certifications, it is also going to contain green strategies. Furthermore, it will not only provide summaries of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e), but also include a number of other impacts associated with the project.
Included in the report, we also recommend resilience measures.
These resilience measures are not covered by code just yet, but are recommended due to the more frequent and severe climate events as a result of climate change. We follow among others the guidelines for resilience based design for the built environment by Arup.
